| Synopsis: |
A group of maidens are madly in love with Reginald Bunthorne, an aesthetic poet. He however only has love for the village milkmaid, Patience. A further complication is caused by the fact that, the year before, these maidens had expressed their love for the officers of a regiment of Dragoon Guards. Now that they see that the maidens love another, they are jealous. Then, Archibald Grosvenor, an idyllic poet, enters the scene. It turns out he was loved by Patience when he was a boy. The maidens soon start loving him instead of Bunthorne. Meanwhile, he wants to marry Patience, but she refuses because he is too perfect, and it would be selfish of her to marry him. In the end, after Grosvenor is forced to cut his hair and become commonplace, Patience finally agrees to marry him. Also, the rest of the maidens decide to marry the dragoons after all. |
