Overview

Synopsis

A man, Jerry, and a woman, Emma, chat in the present about an affair that they had a long time ago. Emma reveals that she is splitting up with her husband, Robert, who admitted to having many affairs himself. Emma also explains that she told Robert that she had the affair with Jerry. Jerry had lunch with Robert the previous day, as they are best friends, and Robert had said nothing. Jerry thus feels betrayed by Emma. Then, in a series of flashbacks, the preceding events are shown in reverse chronological order, beginning with Emma and Jerry's breakup and ending when Jerry hides in Emma's bedroom to surprise her and declare his love for her.
