Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play in two parts, performed separately. Written by Jack Thorne, it is based on an original story by Thorne, J.K. Rowling, and John Tiffany. It was the first return to Harry Potter for nearly a decade by international best-seller, Rowling, and the script was published and bought by thousands of eager fans. The play opened at the Palace Theatre in London on 7 June 2016 and officially premiered 3 weeks later on 30 July 2016. During the preview period, Rowling began a #KeepTheSecrets campaign, to encourage those who had seen the play not to reveal the plot
