Synopsis

It’s summer in the 1960s, by a lake in the Catskills, and delicate, mercurial Lili Adler has been watching the antics of the men and women across the water at the resort. When A handsome young man named Nick appears at the resort, Lil falls desperately in love with him. Charmed by Lili’s fragile demeanor and intelligence, Nick -- who has deeply-held secrets of his own -- falls in love with her, as well. Watching the goings on is Lili’s suspicious, regal, and overbearing German-American mother, Eva, who uses questionable tactics to try and protect her daughter from any emotional harm. Richard Greenberg’s thoughtful and tender play exposes the underbelly of the most delicate of human feelings: love.
