New Monologues for Children

Rashon

Text

Okay, so here's the thing. I know there's a monster under my bed and his name is Bob. Bob is big and blue and he has tentacles instead of arms. And he smells like pizza mixed with gym socks. It's weird. And he's always snoring so loud, I can't sleep.

I don't know why my parents can't see him. Maybe it's because they're old and their eyes don't work as well anymore. Or maybe they just don't want to believe that there's a monster under my bed. But I know what I saw.

Anyway, I tried everything to get rid of Bob. I tried to scare him away by shouting at him, but he just laughed at me. I even tried to tickle him with my toes, but that only made him snore even louder.

So, I came up with a new plan. I'm going to make friends with Bob. Maybe he's just lonely under there all by himself. Maybe he wants someone to talk to. And if I'm friends with him, he won't try to eat me or whatever.

I'm thinking about leaving him some snacks under my bed, like pizza or something. Maybe even a can of soda. And I'll talk to him before I go to sleep, like we're old buddies. "Hey, Bob, how was your day today? Did you have any good snacks?" Stuff like that. I think it's a foolproof plan. And if it doesn't work, I'll just sleep with my flashlight on. That should scare him away for sure. But I'm feeling pretty good about my chances of becoming friends with Bob. Maybe we can even play games together, like cards or something. Who knows? Maybe Bob will be my new best friend. And if anyone asks me if I'm scared of monsters, I'll just tell them, "No way, man. I've got a monster under my bed, and he's my buddy."

Actually, now that I think about it, Bob might be the coolest monster ever. I mean, he has tentacles for arms! How cool is that? And he's blue! I've never seen a blue monster before. Maybe I can ask him to show me some of his monster tricks. Like, maybe he can juggle with his tentacles or something. That would be awesome.

I wonder if Bob gets bored under my bed all day. Maybe I can make him a little house or something. I can use some cardboard and decorate it with markers. That way, Bob will have a cozy place to sleep when he's not busy scaring people.

Anyway, I think my plan to befriend Bob is going to work out great. Maybe he can even teach me some monster language. Then I can talk to all the monsters in the world, and we can all be friends.
