Plot

ACT ONE

The whole story takes place over the course of one strange, mysterious, magical, freaky Friday in April. Teenager Ellie Blake and her mom, Katherine, just can’t seem to understand each other. Katherine wants her daughter to be the best version of herself, and Ellie wants her mother to see and respect her for who she is. It’s the day before Katherine’s wedding and tensions in the house are boiling dangerously high (“Prologue”).

When Ellie goes downstairs for breakfast, the house is already abuzz with wedding preparations. The wedding is hugely important for Katherine professionally as well as personally; her own company will be catering the event and be featured in a spread for Weddings Magazine, potentially pushing her company to a new level of success. Tonight is the rehearsal dinner and Katherine, flanked by her diligent assistant, Torrey, supervises all the last-minute preparation.
