Plot

The show begins on the streets of Agrabah, where the Genie introduces us to our leading players; The ruffians Babkak, Omar, Kassim, and of course Aladdin, The beautiful princess Jasmine, her father the Sultan, along with his long standing royal vizier Jafar and his trusted lacky, Iago (“Overture / Arabian Nights”). As the song ends, Aladdin is caught stealing a loaf of bread from a local vendor. A chase erupts with guards chasing Aladdin and his friends in an attempt to retrieve the stolen bread and arrest the thieves (“One Jump Ahead”). They finally escape the chase, and Aladdin notices two hungry beggars. He offers them the bread he took for himself, but is shoved out of the way by the visiting Prince Abdullah (“One Jump Ahead (Reprise) / Proud of Your Boy”).

The story shifts to the palace, where Princess Jasmine meets Prince Abdullah. Jasmine refuses to marry him, and this angers the Sultan, who then declares that Jasmine must marry by the next moon. This frustrates Jasmine and she
