Overview

Synopsis

A discontented TV actor, Andrew Rally, has recently received the role of Hamlet in a performance to be formed in Central Park. His life is less than perfect, and he is not at all interested in playing Hamlet. His girlfriend, Dierdre Mcdavey, will not even have sex with him. When his agent, Lillian Troy, reminisces about her romance with John Barrymore, the famous actor who once played Hamlet, they decide to have a seance to bring him back. Along with the real estate agent who sold Andrew his apartment (which coincidentally once belonged to Barrymore), Felicia Dantine, they bring him back. Andrew proclaims his hatred of Hamlet and later on gets acting help from Barrymore's ghost. Andrew gets into the role and ultimately performs in the play, though he does quite badly. Even though Barrymore seduces Dierdre, she ultimately chooses Andrew, since he went through with his performance anyway. Andrew turns down an offer for a TV show by writer-director-producer Gary Peter Lefkowitz and chooses a life on stage, and Barrymore, satisfied with where Andrew is headed, leaves.
