Melvin Tunstall III is an American writer and actor. He studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and participated in the Yale Institute for Musical Theatre. He began writing while studying at Cincinnati, but took a small break to make his Broadway debut in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. When Tunstall returned to writing, he was commissioned to adapt Broadway musicals Wonderland and The Wiz. His original musical BLooM! was a finalist in the NAMT Festival in New York City. Best known for Polkadots: the Cool Kids Musical, which won the Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Family Show in 2018, Tunstall writes his own musicals as well as commissioned pieces.
