Biography
Alan Haehnel
Alan Haehnel is a teacher and playwright. He has published several one-act plays for middle school and high school, including The Case of Alex Hansen, 30 Reasons Not to Be in a Play, and A Rare Condition. His plays have won awards at the Vermont One-Act Play Festival, and he was the recipient of the 1993 Vermont Playwright’s Award.
Haehnel graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English Education. He taught English and theatre in New Hampshire until retiring in 2021. In addition to plays, Haehnel has also written original poetry. In 2023, he performed My Ode to Joy, a show that mixed his poetry with music.
