Richard Hawley is a British singer, songwriter raised in Sheffield, in the north of England. The son of two musicians, he grew up in a very musical household and was part of multiple bands before breaking out as a solo artist. During his time with the bands Longpigs and Pulp, Hawley refined his musical style and used this time to record his first mini album. From there, Hawley went on to record a further eight solo studio albums, from 2001 to 2019, playing most of the instruments on the albums himself (including piano, guitar, drums, organ, lyre and vocals). He has worked alongside other famous musicians such as the Arctic Monkeys, the All Saints and Lisa Mary Presley. His music has appeared in a variety of films and in 2019, the jukebox musical Standing at the Sky’s Edge was written around his compositions.
