Joshua Conkel is an American playwright and screenwriter. He was born in Kentucky and moved around frequently as a “navy brat”. His family settled in Washington state, and he graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle with a degree in theatre. In 2009, his play MilkMilkLemonade was named Best Off-Off-Broadway play by NY Press. Conkel’s other plays include The Chalk Boy, Lonesome Winter, and I Wanna Destroy You. His plays have been produced at theatres around the world, including Steppenwolf, Old Vic, and Soho Rep.
Conkel is also a successful screenwriter. The short film Curmudgeons, which Conkel wrote, was a nominee for Best Narrative Short at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and won Best Short Film at the Frameline San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival. He also writes for episodic series, including Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
