Biography
Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is an English actress and writer. She was born in Hammersmith, London and raised in Ealing. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and finding acting roles difficult to come by, she turned to writing. In 2007, she met actress and director Vicky Jones, with whom she co-founded the DryWrite Theatre Company to produce intimate experimental plays. Waller-Bridge also began landing TV and movie roles.
Waller-Bridge wrote Fleabag in 2012 on a dare from a friend. The show started as a ten-minute comedy piece that she adapted into a one-woman show about a sardonic young woman. Fleabag won the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013 and was adapted into a series in 2016 with Waller-Bridge starring as the title character. The series earned widespread critical acclaim and has been called one of the greatest TV series of all time.
