Giuseppe Adami was an Italian playwright, librettist and journalist in the late 19th and early 20th century. His work in collaboration with Giacomo Puccini produced some of the most well-known and regularly performed operas in the canon today. Together with Puccini, Adami was one of the foremost proponants of verismo; opera which focused on telling the stories of real people. Their first opera together, La Rondine premiered in 1917, and their friendship and collaboration lasted throughout their lives. Adami is responsible for Puccini's 1935 biography.
