Italian opera librettist Francesco Maria Piave first met Giuseppe Verdi during his position as the poet and stage manager at La Fenice; a relationship which would go on to put Piave's name in operatic history. Together they worked on 10 different operas, including some of Verdi's most famous works, such as Ernani, Rigoletto, La traviata, and both version of Macbeth.
