About

Regent University’s Theatre Arts program, part of the School of Communication & the Arts, combines liberal arts education with performance-based training informed by a Christian worldview. The program aims to develop well-rounded artists through study and practice in acting, directing, design, stagecraft, theatre history, text analysis, makeup, and more—all conducted onsite at Regent’s impressive Performing Arts Center.

Students benefit from access to on-campus production spaces, including a main theatre, studio theatre, and technical rehearsal facilities. Productions vary from Broadway musicals to classical drama and contemporary works. The theatre season spans several shows each year and aims to integrate emerging artists into every facet of production.

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theatre is a 120-credit degree emphasizing interdisciplinary learning. Core coursework includes stagecraft, makeup, fundamentals of directing, theatre design and management, and performance labs, all aimed at equipping students for audition-ready portfolios and professional work.

For students seeking advanced performance specialization, Regent offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting, a more intensive, audition-based program typically entered during the sophomore year. This track focuses deeply on acting technique, movement, improvisation, and industry preparation.

At the graduate level, the M.A. in Theatre—available online—focuses on teaching methods, dramaturgy, aesthetics, theatre history, and character development. Regent also offers an MFA in Acting and a Certificate in Graduate Studies (CGS) in Theatre Practices for specialized continuing education.
