The area of the stage that is the closest to the audience.
A statement that explains the overall purpose and interpretation of the show, often used to guide directors and designers to have a unified concept of the production.
The crew person who uses mannequins (or even actors) to create patterns through draping on a human form.
A full, final rehearsal, with all technical and creative elements brought together. The performance as it will be "on the night."
The crew persons who facilitates costume changes and adjustments backstage during a performance, also called costume running crew.
The backstage area where actors get ready for the performance, including costume, makeup, and hair.
A general term for microphones that are made to pick up loud sounds and bass, best used for drums, electric instruments, and loud vocals. The oldest and simplest type of mic, dynamic mics use a coil and magnet to generate signal.
A type of bar that hangs above the stage with electrical outlets for lighting instruments.
The material of costumes.
A blueprint of the makeup design, often created with stage makeup on special paper.
A hooped skirt worn by women in the Tudor period.
Buzzing, hissing, and screeching noises caused by a “looped signal” in the sound system. The most common cause of feedback is positioning speakers in front of microphones.
