Audition Day
Introduction
The audition day is when you perform your prepared audition material for the adjudicators, who are members of the program’s faculty. Each college will organize their audition day differently but they will usually be made up of a combination of your prepared material, material you are taught that day, and some sort of interview.
Terminology
- Adjudicator: The person(s) evaluating your audition. In the context of college auditions, these people are typically faculty.
- Holding Room: A large room where people waiting to audition are held until their appointed time.
- Warm-ups: Physical, vocal, and mental exercises to warm up the body, voice, and mind.

Preparation
Audition days can be long, often 7 hours or more, so preparing for audition day is like preparing for a sporting event.
