Good evening. As you know, I'm Holly Carlson, the head of the drama department. I'd like to welcome you to this year's senior class presentation. You may have heard that this year we're going to depart from tradition. The class has requested permission to write its own show. And I think the uncertain future, the, if you will, existential threat, they face justifies their request. I should preface the show by saying that their feelings about the subject are quite intense. Since the show is an opportunity for the class to express itself creatively, I trust you'll understand why they've been allowed to do it in their own words, which sometimes reflect the intensity of their feelings. They've pointed out a quotation from a congresswoman they admire who's an advocate of The Green New Deal,Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who said, "I'll will be damned if the same politicians who refused to act then are going to try to come back today and say we need a middle-of-the-road approach to save our lives." And now, the senior class of Ridgewood High proudly presents the new musical, Hooked on Happiness! Take it away, thespians!
