Context
Matthew has just been shot by his wife, Tina,
to read the context for this monologue from A Very Modern Marriage and to unlock other amazing theatre resources!Text
Shut up. ... I’ve been shot. Yeah, in the arm - it could’ve been my head. It could’ve been Chris’ head. This is not Matty over-reacting, this is Matthew dealing with you guys over causing a reaction that’s totally deserved!
(beat)
I’m gonna go get a cab, swing by the walk-in clinic, get this patched up. You two will stay here, and patch this up. I love you, Tina. If you’ll come back, I’ll make it work. Chris? I want you in my life. I’m a little freaked out by the kiss, or the blood loss, but I can deal. So you two - figure this sh#t out!
(to Tina)
Ditch the gun. I’ll tell them it happened somewhere else - I was mugged or... I’ll come up with something.
