Then one day, I see a note on my nightstand. "Dear Momma, you won't ever have to worry whether or not I'll be next. I won't let them get me. There won't be any of me for them to get." They found Aaron floating down the river. Wound in his temple. He'd shot himself on top of the bridge. When they pulled my baby’s body from that water, he smelt of algae. I hate that smell. I hate it to this day.
CLAUDINE is silent. Then she bursts. MISSY gets up to comfort her.
He didn't want anybody to shoot another black man. So he felt he needed to remove himself from the equation. They didn't get a chance to shoot him. He did it himself.
