He walks — slowly and stooped — with his head sunk into
his shoulders, hands in his pockets. (Imitates his father.) His step isn’t sure — frightened to exert himself in case he should suddenly drop dead.

He gets around. But who knows how sick he is? Now we can’t tell his lethargy from his illness.
