Love, gravedigger, is having such a sense of the value of others that you live your life for them. You go hungry that they may eat; you stay awake that they might sleep; you draw to yourself the fury of the furies that they might be safe. Love isn't mush and gush, and it's more of a crawl than a gallop. It's service and sacrifice that's always at work in the shadow, even when no one notices it in the sun.
There are things to fight for and things to believe in, but above all, there are people to love. In loving, you will be loved, and in being loved, your heart will be nourished to your dying day.
