Real Women Have Curves

In person auditions will be held on Saturday, July 19th 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and Sunday, July 20th 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Callbacks (by invitation only) Monday, July 21 7:00 to 10:00 pm.

For in person auditions, no appointments are necessary. Please arrive in time to sign-in and complete paperwork during scheduled audition times. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Side will be provided day of auditions and/or prior to upon request. Bring a current resume, and your calendar: a rehearsal schedule will be posted and you will be asked to note any conflicts.

The play requires all characters speak Spanish with an understanding of colloquialisms particular to east Los Angeles. For Ana, at least A2 (1-2 Years; High-Beginner) level is strongly preferred, and for all other roles, B1 (3-4 Years; High Intermediate) is strongly preferred. The audition will include reading scenes that are written in Spanish.

Character Descriptions:

Ana (Female presenting, 18)

Sister of Estela, daughter of Carmen. She is a recent high-school graduate and a young feminist who wants to go to college but is stuck in the factory helping out her sister.

Estela (Female presenting, 34)

Owner of the "Garcia Sewing Factory", a hopeless romantic at heart, but a hard worker.

Carmen (Female presenting, 50)

Mother of Ana and Estela. She has a talent for Storytelling and gossip.

Pancha (Female presenting, 32)

Mellow in her ways but quick with her tongue, very Catholic and traditional at times.

Rosali (Female presenting, 29)

Sweet and easygoing, but has a secret and is insecure about her appeal
