Auditions Dates: 20 Jul 2025 Time: 10:00 - 12:30 and 21 Jul 2025 Time: 20:00 - 22:00.
Described as an “ink-black comedy”, Contractions focuses on the dynamic between an employee (Emma) and her boss (known only as “The Manager”), exploring the boundaries between work and personal life. In a series of meetings, Emma and The Manager enter into increasingly twisted verbal exchanges as Emma realises that she cannot have any secrets in the workplace…
Characters:
THE MANAGER: Female, 40+, stern, outspoken, experienced, no-nonsense, worked her way up in the company.
EMMA: Female, 25 to 35, new employee, inexperienced but has a good work ethic. Throughout the play she develops from a naive girl to an independent young woman. AUDITION SLOTS FOR THIS ROLE ARE NOW FULL. The director is accepting self-tapes for this role. Ages are playing ages. You will be sent the audition pieces via email before the audition. You do not have to learn anything, please just familiarise yourself with the scenes. Callbacks, for those selected will be on Sunday 27 July at 10am.
