The auditions are set for June 16 and 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Playhouse. Applicants will be taken in on a first come/first serve basis. Please enter through the Green Room door to be signed in. No video auditions will be accepted. Pics and resumes are required. Actors should prepare a brief prepared Shakespearean monologue, preferably from Hamlet. They will also cold read from script.
The plot, set in Paris in the 1897, actress Sarah Bernhardt upsets the establishment with her announcement that she’ll play the title role in Hamlet.
THE PART OF SARAH BERNHARDT HAS BEEN CAST.
The parts remaining parts and descriptions are as follows:
Constant Coquelin: 50s, actor in Bernhardt’s troupe. He knows his Hamlet, having played him several times. Must handle Shakespeare easily and handy with swordplay.
Edmond Rostand: 30s. Paris’ preeminent playwright on the verge of premiering his masterpiece, Cyrano de Bergerac. Passionately in love with Sarah and his wife, Rosamond. Handy with swordplay.
Alfonse Mucha: 40-50s; Artist and scenic designer devoted to Bernhardt. Slight Czech accent.
Maurice: 30s; Sarah’s son. Intense and protective of his mother.
Louis: 40-50s; a critic close to Bernhardt.
Rosamond: late 20s. Rostand’s devoted wife.
Lysette: 20s; An actor in the troupe. Cast as Ophelia in Hamlet. Handy with swordplay.
Raoul: 30s-40s; An actor in Bernhardt’s troupe. Handy with swordplay.
Francois: 30s-40s; An actor in Bernhardt’s troupe. Handy with swordplay.
Worker: 30s-50s; Not artistic; will double with either Maurice, Raoul or Francois.
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
Rehearsals start: July 14. Mon-Thurs & Sunday 7-10:15 pm.
MODIFIED REHEARSAL SCHEDULE DURING AUG. 10-25.
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:
Sept. 19-Oct. 4.
Friday and Saturday at 8 with a ½ Price preview Sept 18.
Sundays Sept 21/28 at 2 pm.
