Context
Hoke Coleburn is driving his employer, Daisy Werthan over to her daughter-in-law’s house for Christmas. He is full of wonder at the amount of Christmas lights on display but she is not in the festive spirit. She does not get on with her daughter-in-law and complains about how she has embraced Christmas traditions despite being Jewish. Hoke is amused at Daisy’s grumpy attitude but humors her. Changing the subject, Daisy gives him a package (although it is most definitely NOT a Christmas present).
