Text

Elizabeth: Howdy. I'm just here to check on Jane since she got sick from the rain. Hey, that rhymed!
Mr. Bingley: Welcome! I'm so sorry she got sick. (Jane coughs in the background)
Caroline: Come walk with me. (holds her arm out to Elizabeth)
Elizabeth: Um, walk where, Caroline?
Caroline: You know, take a turn around the room. (to audience) This is what people did before television.
(Caroline and Elizabeth walk in a large circle around Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy)
Mr. Darcy: You girls are either walking because you have secret affairs to discuss, or because you want to be admired.
Mr. Bingley: I think they look nice. (calls over to Jane) How ya doing, Jane?
(Jane, still lying on the floor, gives two thumbs up and coughs some more)
Caroline: (to Elizabeth) What do you think of our Mr. Darcy?
Elizabeth: Are we talking strengths or weaknesses? Because he doesn't seem like a warm, fuzzy, or forgiving person.
Mr. Darcy: My good opinion once lost, is lost forever.
Elizabeth: (to Caroline) See? (to Mr. Darcy) So your defect is to hate everybody.
Mr. Darcy: And yours is to willfully misunderstand them. (Jane moans)
Elizabeth: Whatever. I really don't have time for this. Peace out. (she walks over to Jane and drags her offstage)
(All exit)
