Context
Young twins, Dora and Nora, were adopted at birth by theatrical landlady, Grandma Chance. Their mother died when they were born and their father, Melchior Hazard, refuses to acknowledge them. Here, they meet their Uncle Peregrine for the first time...despite the fact that they are all buck naked! Although Grandma Chance is initially hostile towards him, she soon realizes he is very different to his brother. He tells them of Melchior’s forthcoming marriage.
