Context
Jason has come to Medea’s house to seek revenge for the murder of his betrothed, the princess of Corinth, and her father, who were poisoned by Medea. The city is on fire as a result of her curse, and Medea has already killed one of their sons. When Jason arrives, she is waiting for him - with the second son - on the roof of her house.
