Context
Henry Reyna, the leader of the 38th Street Gang, has been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned. His lawyer George Shearer has been working with a committee to help Henry and his friends--Tommy, Joey, and Smiley--overturn that conviction. While Henry has been suspicious of the law, and is losing hope, the others are doing their best to remain optimistic. However, George visits the boys with some bad news.
