Context
Snake has come to visit Lady Sneerwell. She pays him to forge letters and incriminate others for malicious fun. Lady Sneerwell delights in spreading gossip and ruining reputations, as does Snake. Snake admires Lady Sneerwell and enjoys his work for her. However, he does not understand why she is concerning herself with Sir Peter Teazle's family and encourages Lady Sneerwell to reveal her intentions.
