Context
Darren Lemming and Davey Battle are best friends, even though they play on opposing Major League teams. A week following this encounter, Darren announced to the world that he was gay--which was a shock to everyone. Following a game (Davey’s team lost to Darren’s), the men go out to talk about their lives and careers. According to the play’s narrator, Kippy, this conversation is what made Darren decide to publicly come out.

Start:
DARREN: So okay, this is not a bad place.
DAVEY: I’m not about to be goin’ with you to bad places, my man.
DARREN: By which I mean this is not a good place. I mean we’re not at Serendipity, scarfin’ down root-beer floats.
[... … …]
End:
DAVEY: I know I like you, Darren. You’re my friend.
But now you’re seen As Through a Glass Darkly.
Do you know what I’m saying to you?
I drink my one beer, and I cuss my two cuss words loudly, so as to manifest my true nature.
I want my whole self known.
You too, Darren. You should, too.
