Context
In the beginning of March 1915, Albert finds himself hiding in a crater after a surprise German attack. With him is a fellow private, David. They are only teenagers, terrified and disoriented by the sights and sounds of war. Throughout the scene, they grapple with what to do, where to go, and what might happen if they are discovered.
