Context
Esther’s troupe has arrived in Europe. After living on the streets of New York City, they are able to perform in clubs. In this bit, Schneck and Joseph revive two of their vaudeville-style characters, Redy and Rudy, and banter about New York City and Paris. They use a Yiddish dialect, sometimes speak German lines, and mock the Germans, not knowing that the Nazi army will soon be invading France.

Start:
SCHNECK: Bonjour, ladies and gentleman. To entertain you, dames and messieurs, we’ve come all the way from New York City. Tonight for only a coup de rouge, we make our European debut in this world famous Club Clandestin. You, our audience, are la crème de la crème. Generous Jews, charming Communists, gregarious gypsies. Men loving men, women loving women. You poor, you downtrodden, lend me your ears, because here in la belle France, they are all honourable men. Nicht wahr? Bienvenue, ladies and gentleman. Redy Rudy?
[... … …]
End:
SCHNECK: So we’ll stay in Free France until the war is over?
Joseph does a prat fall.
SCHNECK: And now you schnorrers everywhere, let’s have a big round of applause for Miss Channele Laranovska all the way from New York City.
