Leon has just arrived at the house of his new employer, Dr. Nikoli Zubritsky and his wife, Lenya. They are very excited for him to start his new job; to try to educate their daughter, Sophia. The Zubritskys ask Leon to ask them a “question.”Leon asks, “What is the purpose of man’s existence?” Nikoli and Lenya are overwhelmed with emotion, that someone would ask them a question like that. Start: Lenya: Would you be so kind, Master Tolchinsky, to- to ask us a question. Any question at all.
Doctor: It would mean a lot to us. It’s been so long since anyone has asked us a good “school” question… Please! (They all sit).

Lenya: Zubritsky! I’ve heard that name before.
Doctor: I’ve seen it! I’ve seen it! On a front door somewhere. In this neighborhood.
Leon: It’s on your front door. Your name is Zubritsky
End: Doctor: (with profound insight) Wait a minute! That means that the young man in the curse may possibly be related to-our front door. (He and Lenya walk over to the door, open it and look out.)
