Context
The scene is dark, the only light is from Raja and Honza’s lanterns. They can’t see each other, but we can hear and see the despair in their voices and bodies. Honza’s number has been called. He has to leave for Auschwitz in the morning. Raja begs to come with him, but Honza refuses. He says the news is good and that the war is coming to an end. Honza gives Raja a poem he wrote about her and they read it together until Honza’s voice fades out.
