Context
Ned is an outspoken activist and Emma is a doctor at a New York hospital where she treats AIDS victims on a daily basis. However, the disease is still in its early years and has not yet been identified or labeled as AIDS. They are having brunch at Emma’s apartment. She is worried about the rapid spread of disease in the gay community through rampant casual sex and wants the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC; which Ned co-founded) to be more aggressive in its messages and pamphlets.
