Context
Eugene Morris Jerome and his older brother, Stanley, are aspiring comedy writers. When Stanley scores the boys an audition with CBS for one of their comedy sketches, they are forced to quickly come up with the best sketch they have ever written by 10 o’clock the next morning. This is a huge feat, considering they have never written a sketch in less than three weeks, and, in fact, they never even finished it. EUGENE: There’s too much material in this house. Maybe I don’t have to become a writer. If only I could get enough people to pay for seats in the living room.
STAN: (bursting into EUGENE’S room, holding a sheet of paper) I can’t believe it. I cannot believe it!
EUGENE: What?
STAN: I just came up with an idea. One of the funniest ideas I ever heard of in my life. I was hysterical just picturing it.

EUGENE: How about an hour?
STAN: Thirty minutes. That’s all. You have no discipline. Don’t let me fall asleep.
