ARLENE

I know I'm unique. I don't need you to tell me that. So, what does the doctor say?

SHANNON

You'll be rid of me anytime now.

ARLENE

He's been saying that for months.

SHANNON

Then why did you suddenly believe him and come to visit me?

ARLENE

I didn't want it to end like this.

SHANNON

Like what? With me dying? All right, Arlene, I'll be a gentleman. You go first.

ARLENE

I mean with us hating each other.

SHANNON

Hating each other? I don't hate you. Actually, I find you rather amusing.

ARLENE

I am not amusing, and I am not amused. I mean it, Shannon. I want the hostility between us to end. We're both adults. I think it's time we were able to forgive and forget.

SHANNON

So you can live long and prosper? Don't worry, Arlene. You're in my Will.

ARLENE

I don't care about that.
