Context
In the parents room of the hospital, Mary Jane bumps into Chaya, a Hasidic mother of seven whose child is on the same ward as Alex. Chaya is pumping breastmilk for her twin babies back home. Mary Jane remembers the early days pumping milk for Alex and recalls how horrible and dispiriting she found it. The two women talk about the other patients on their ward and how much they dread the lengthy stays in hospital.
