Context
Paulie, a struggling mixed martial arts fighter, has been married to Mary for eight months. They are preparing their apartment for a welcome home party for Mary’s ex-husband, Petie. Paulie’s younger sister, Penny, and Mary’s younger brother, Joey, a womanizer who plans to marry Penny, are expected to attend. Still bruised from a fight the night before, Paulie has just punched a hole in the wall while crying and professing his love for Mary. This is a habitual occurrence at their apartment;
