Context
Oedipus was raised by Tiresias. Unbeknownst to him, Tiresias is not his true father; Tiresias was handed the infant Oedipus by his friend, Laius, who order Tiresias to kill his newborn son. Tiresias could not do such an abhorrent deed, and instead raised Oedipus as his own, never revealing to his adopted son his true origins. Tiresias meant to protect Oedipus, but because of his silence, Oedipus’ life has been destroyed. Oedipus has unknowingly fulfilled the prophecy made before his birth that

START: (Oedipus enters and sees Tiresias sitting at a chair waiting. Oedipus goes and sits. They face each other in silence for a moment. Finally, Oedipus gets up and goes to Tiresias. He takes off his glasses and kisses each eye. He sits again.)
Tiresias: What colors did you see on the way up?
Oedipus: Oh, I saw some greens. A lot of brown. A few yellow!
Tiresias: Amarillos?
Oedipus: Yeah.
