Context
Hugo invited Isabelle, a young dancer, to his aunt’s estate for a ball. He is hoping that she will inspire his twin brother Frederic to break up with Diana, Frederic’s uncaring fiancee. But Hugo’s plot is coming unraveled, and so he needs Patrice to help him bring the plan to a conclusion. In order to get Patrice’s help, Hugo gently blackmails his friend regarding Patrice’s own love life (Patrice is carrying on an affair with his employer’s mistress).
