Text

David. "Tell me again, why are we here"?

Steve. "It was either this or the library and as you can barely read I thought this might be a better idea."

David. "Oh I can read, just find it boring."

Steve. "I know you can, only kidding. Do you think we'll ever get another job? I've applied for about twenty but if you can't use a computer it limits your chances."

David. "I've given up applying, I just go to the Dole office, check the board and go home. Who the hell is going to employ a middle aged man with no qualifications? Answer? Nobody"!

Steve. "Karen is getting fed up with me, says I am always under her feet. Do you know I've lost half a stone since I lost my job, I spend almost every day just walking, going nowhere in particular, just walking. Bloody good job she's working, my savings are running out fast."

David. "Savings? Wish I had some. What I get off the government would not keep a gnat alive and my mother is none too happy having me back home since Lucy kicked me out."

Steve. "Did she really kick you out because you lost your job"?

David. "No, not really, we were never right for each other, we only stayed together out of habit. You could say we had twenty five good years, then we met!"

Steve. "Oh come on, you had some good times."

David. "That's true, but they were fewer the longer we knew each other. She has a cruel streak at times and she never got my addiction to Spurs, she said it wasn't normal, but I suppose most women don't get football."

Steve. "I honestly thought you two were a fixture."

David. "We might have been, but losing my job just showed up all the flaws in our relationship, quite simply we didn't really get on."

Steve. "You could say that about most marriages."

David. "I suppose. Now if I could just get a bloody job, or better still win the Lottery she might take me back."

Steve. "Do you really think she would"?

David. "What woman wouldn't if you had ten million"?
