Context
Norma is eight months pregnant. She has come to Matron’s office as her waters have just broken, although she is unaware as to what is happening. Norma is afraid that something is wrong and, more specifically, that she has harmed her baby. As Matron examines her, Norma reveals secrets about her pregnancy and her boyfriend. Earlier in the pregnancy, he encouraged her to try and abort the baby but their efforts were unsuccessful. Privately, Norma admits that her boyfriend is a married man.
