Context
Schwartz has been hired by Dr. Goll to paint Lulu, his wife. She is dressed in a Pierrot costume, holding a shepherd’s crook. Dr. Goll has--against his better judgment--left Lulu alone with Schwartz. While the artist is at first professional, he gives into his desire for Lulu, and begins chasing her around his studio, declaring his love.

SCHWARZ. (Gets up, goes up left, observes Lulu from all sides, and sits again at his easel.) If I may request Mrs. Goll to raise the right hand a little higher.
LULU. _(Grasps the crook as high as she can reach; to herself.) _Who would have thought that was possible!
SCHWARZ. I am quite ridiculous, you think?
