Context
Grace has long since quit her job in the factory, and she is preparing to appear in court. However, she is frustrated that the company continues pushing back their court date, as her health is rapidly declining. Markley, a councilman for the radium company, visits Grace and her mother, Mrs. Fryer, at their home while Grace is resting.
