Context
The Pardoner and the Friar have both been preaching on the church steps. The Friar wants donations from the congregation so that he may pray for their souls. The Pardoner is trying to sell the locals some holy relics that will cure their ills. While they have had several dueling speeches, the Friar decides that he has had enough, and is ready to confront the Pardoner.
