Context
Alice loves Dan, but he left her to be with Anna, a photographer. Anna is Larry’s ex-wife, and he still misses her terribly. Larry somehow manages to find Alice, Dan’s ex, at a seedy nightclub where she is working as a stripper. They flirt, and he pays her generously, asking for “her truth,” which she refuses. He reveals himself as Anna’s ex-husband and makes it clear that he wants to sleep with Alice as a way to nurse his wounds.
